No. Every plan is billed at the same usage rates listed above. Plans differ in included credits, rate limits, seats, backups and support, not in what a query or a token costs.

Content tokens measure the data Mixedbread processes and stores. Text is about 1.4 tokens per word, a document page is 2,000 tokens, an image is 2,000, a minute of video is 24,000 and a minute of audio is 12,000. They are separate from the LLM tokens Toast 1 uses for inference.

Fast, at $1.50 per million content tokens, does content-aware indexing with basic OCR. High Quality, at $3, adds state-of-the-art OCR with layout preservation, AI-generated descriptions for images, transcription for audio and video, and summaries for text chunks.

Per thousand queries: $0.10 for grep, $4 for semantic search, or $7.50 for semantic search with reranking. Searches issued by Toast 1 are billed at the Toast 1 rate of $1 per thousand, or $2.50 with reranking.

Indexed data costs $0.50 per million content tokens per month. Bandwidth and egress are included on every plan.

Starter is free and comes with $5 in one-time credits, no card required. It includes 3 workspace users, 10 stores and 100 requests per minute. When the credits are used up, add credits from billing settings or upgrade to Scale.

Scale is $20 a month, and that $20 comes back as credits every month; usage beyond it is pay-as-you-go at the standard rates. It raises the limits to unlimited workspace users, 10,000 stores, 1,200 queries and 360 ingestion requests per minute, and adds automatic backups and priority Slack support with a same-day SLA.

Your balance is shown in billing settings, where you can add credits manually or enable auto top-up with a threshold so usage is never interrupted. Usage metrics can lag by up to ten minutes, and small overdrafts are allowed to avoid interruptions during spikes.

Toast 1 currently runs at a 40% launch discount: $0.30 per million input tokens instead of $0.50, $0.036 for cached input instead of $0.06, and $0.72 per million output tokens instead of $1.20. Cache writes are free. The searches Toast 1 makes are billed separately at the Toast 1 search rate.

On Enterprise, yes. Bring Your Own Bucket keeps your content in object storage you control, such as S3, while Mixedbread indexes and searches it without retaining it. Bring Your Own Cloud runs Mixedbread inside your own cloud account, keeping data and compute there.

Organizations managed through the Vercel integration are billed by Vercel rather than by Mixedbread. Usage appears in both dashboards; invoices and payments live in Vercel's billing dashboard.
